Daniel's Story - Hope *

In chapter 5, Daniel's father said that the radio was really important to the family.  He said that it gave them hope and... "Hope was more important than bread."
What did he mean?  Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

I think means that to him having hope was more important than having something to eat. If you had hope in that time it would help you a lot because someone that didn't have hope wouldn't live much because without hope you would have no reason to live, and you would die because you would give up on having a chance to live and trying to live at all. Bread was very important back then because it would be one of the only things that they would have to eat but even if they had all the bread in the world it wouldn't help them live any longer as much as hope because if they had food but they didn't have hope they would go out to work and wouldn't do anything to help themselves because they would think that they had no chance to live anymore. Daniel's father had hope from the radio because since they had something that was illegal it gave him hope to think that the German's couldn't take everything away from them.

  1. "Bread was very important back then because it would be one of the only things that they would have to eat but even if they had all the bread in the world it wouldn't help them live"..That says it all. Nice work. Try to watch some of your sentences since they are a little to long. Great! 4.5/5
